Here we are again talking about hidden London, London less touristy but equally rich in beauty, colors and unique features!
One of my favorite authors said: “No city presents such a disorderly variety of forms, such a capricious mixture of beautiful, ugly, magnificent, poor, sad, strange, big, dull.” (E. de Amicis)
I agree with him, London is so much, it’s all! And together we will go to discover London!
In the last article we talked about unusual and not very touristy places in Londo, and in this article I want to tell you more, because London really has SO much to offer!
Little Venice, Neal’s Yard, Hindu temple or Lokal Sketch so unique! We’ve already seen these special places together last week … Did you miss the last article? Here it is !
We continue to enter the hidden London and start from …
I am a lover of green areas and many of you know this garden has won me over!
Often forgotten, it’s a truly evocative oasis of tranquility. The Chelsea Physic Garden, right next to the Thames, is the oldest botanical garden in the city! Numerous plants grow here, including medical and edible plants!
Kew Royal Botanic GardensAgain a green area, I love them! The Kew Royal Botanic Gardens are “royal” gardens commissioned by Princess Augsburg of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg in the eighteenth century, and to date have become UNESCO heritage. Why? They are absolutely beautiful, inside you will find greenhouses with plants from all over the world! And then an art gallery, statues, fountains, colorful flowers and even a Japanese pagoda!
In these gardens you will lose and forget every effort!
Chin Chin Labs liquid nitrogen ice cream
We want to talk about this original ice cream ! Go to Chin Chin Labs and enjoy a more unique and rare ice cream, where in the preparation they use the freezing properties of liquid nitrogen. Hard to believe, isn’t it? You go there, and while you waiting for your turn you will be enchanted to observe the chemical smoke clouds of the shop that accompany the preparation of the ice cream!
- The Luggage Room in Mayfair
- The Little Yellow Door in Notting Hill
- The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town in Spitalfields
- Freud a few steps from Coven Garden
These are just some of the “secret” bars in London, they are absolutely typical places, many of them bohemian. I will not tell you anything else, but if you want to go for a walk immersing yourself in typical and noisy little places, a stop in one of these secret bars is a must!
St Pancras stationAfter being developed in 2007, today the St Pancras station is an important railway station inside which the Renaissance, a 5-star hotel with a truly fascinating architectural structure, towers majestically.
Why am I telling you about this station? In addition to the architectural beauty of this hotel, in addition to the presence on the tracks of the monument known as “the statue of lovers”, in addition to the tribute to Sir John Betjeman, the man who saved the station in the sixties …
In the nearby King’s Cross you will find the corner that pays homage to Harry Potter! (how could I not tell you about it?) Look for track 9 ¾ and take a picture with Harry as he tries to cross the station wall.
Richmond Park
Here we are to conclude, to talk about another green lung in the city: Richmond Park, where you can walk around admiring … fallow deer!
This park is the largest enclosed urban park in Europe and has several species of really beautiful plants! Here you will find few tourists. From the hill of Henry VIII you can admire even if from a distance, the famous London Eye!
Here are other glimpses of hidden London, where you can really feel one with the London people and not just a tourist bewitched by Big Ben! Plan your trip to London and insert places like these in your itinerary, they will really enrich you!
